Masters Bike Racer

When I take the time to do something, I’m gonna find a way to win. It’s how I approach my work and my sports. As a D3 college football player and a masters (old man) bike racer, I’ve never really competed at the elite levels. That’s never prevented me from pursuing it as if my livelihood depended on winning.

The satisfaction of victory is intense. It’s also fleeting.

Within seconds of stepping from the podium, I felt the pressure to win again. I realized what I truly love about cycling is the process of training hard with friends and maintaining a high level of fitness. I love how it resets my brain and energizes me for my work and my family. With this knowledge, I train with intensity—always. Being fit is a lifestyle, not a hobby. There is no offseason. When I do choose to race, I do it because I found a circumstance that brings me energy and joy as opposed to drains me of it.
